Welcome – Movie review

December 22, 2007 at 11:09 pm (movie reviews) (, , , )

Welcome
Director : Anees Bazmee
Starring : Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat, Paresh Rawal.
welcome.jpg

WELCOME is a funny movie, but at times it seems the comedy is streched too far.

Story quite obvious from the promos, Akshay fals in love with katrina, who is the sister of the maphia kings Anil and Nana Patekar. As per Akshay’s mamaji’s (Paresh Rawal) rule, he should marry only from a sharif family. Then the story turns to the hand of Akshay where he tries to convince the brothers to follow a good path.

Feroz Khan makes his entry in the second half and makes the situation worser. The climax is the worst part of the movie and could have done in a different style.

Movie clearly belongs to Anil in the first half and Nana in the second half with FK and Mallika doing the extended cameos.

Akshay’s role has nothing new to offer to his fans and they are in for a disappointment this time round

Movie review:

Taare Zameen Par, which has the distinction of being actor Aamir Khan’s debut directorial venture, has made the music launch at a rather silent note. In the film Ishaan Awasthi plays a eight-year-old boy whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class.

When is sets himself to far more trouble, his parents sent him to boarding school to ‘be get disciplined’. But the situation goes worser for him as he has to contend with the added separation from his family.

One day a new art teacher comes onto the scene, Ram Shankar Nikumbh. He breaks all the rules and asks his students to think, imagine and dream and ultimately helps Ishaan find himself.

Music review :

Bum Bum Bole :
Sung by actor-director Aamir Khan and Shaan. It is a fun song. The voice of shaan has got a touch naughtiness and the restlessness os a child.

Kholo Kholo :
Sung by Raman Mahadevan. It is a melodious song backed up by guitar. This song is the winner for me from the film and will be pleasing for many.

Jame Raho :
Sung by Vishal Dadlani. It is a situational number which describes differnt kind of children. It might gain success among children but not commercially.

Maa:
Sung by Shankar Mahadevan. The sentimental number is full of melody and rhythm. The relatinship between son and mother is well potrayed in the song.

Bheja Kam:
Sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Bugs Bhargava, Shankar Sachdev, Raaj Gopal Iyer, Ravi Khanwilker, Loy Mendonsa, Amole Gupte, Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan and Ram Madhvani. It is less of a song and more of scolding that children get, on getting low marks.

Mera Jahaan:
Sung by Adnan Sami. This song turns out to be a great number. The music for the song has been composed by Shailendra Barve.

Taare Zameen Par :
Sung by Shankar Mahadevan. The title song is the eye cather with minimal music and shankar’s music doing the work.

Ishaan’s theme:
An instrumental piece, the piece seems to trace the emotional graph of a child.

Showbiz movie review

December 16, 2007 at 1:17 pm (movie reviews)

Showbiz

Director :Raju Khan
Music : Lalit Pandit
Producer : Mukesh Bhatt
Starring : Tushar Jalota, Mrinalini Sharma, Gulshan Grover.
showbiz.jpg

Mahesh bhatt’s next film showbiz is the story on the dark side of the show biz industry with the debutant director choreographer Raju Khan. The movie will bring a few more debutant through the Bhatt camp into Bollywood in the year 2007.The film marks the debut of the lead hero Tushar Jalota. SHOWBIZ stars Mrinalini Sharma as the lead protagonist who was last seen in Bhatt’s AWARAPAN. Gulshan Grover plays significant role in the film, which as indicated by the title, exposes the glitter and litter underneath the glamour industry.

The music of the album has been composed by Lalit Pandit and lyrics are of Sayeed Quadri. The prominent signers in the cassette are : K.K., Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal.

Tu Mujhse Jab Se Mila Hai:
Sung by KK. The passionate guitar song surely stand out in your senses. This song is ready to reach the chartbusters. There is a rap version of the same song sung by Earl which is promising too for its beats.

Mere Palak Ka Tu Hi Sitara:
Sung by KK. KK proves to be “rock-star” of the album and is a treat for our drummer dude. The unplugged version has sweet piano and flute notes. The unplugged version was the winner for me.

Duniya Ne Dil Tode:
Sung by KK. This is the third and final solo offering by KK. It is a typical Bhatt camp styled sentimental track.

Kash Ek Din Aisa Bhi Aaye:
Sung by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal. This is the only song that comes out as a duet. Lalit Pandit’s music again proves too insufficient to make any promising vibrations.

Meri Ibtada:
Sung by Shreya Ghosal. This is a short situational song which is very sweet.
